Local Gems in San Francisco
October 22, 2014
Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days! It is my goal to post 3-4 times a week, but I had the pleasure of spending a few days in San Francisco, and I just didn’t find the time to post. I did, however, discover some local “bookish” gems to share with all of you!
San Francisco is the craft cocktail capital of the county, and this was my favorite craft cocktail bar. The decor was cozy and adorable (check out all of the tealights scattered among the countless shelves of books), and you feel like you are at a small gathering in someone’s study instead of a loud and crazy bar. The drink menu was not extensive, but the Chocolate Bramble was delish (it could be made with either vodka or gin)!
A world renown independent book store, City Lights is a quaint little gem if you are looking to chill out for awhile and read a book (or to go exploring for new and interesting titles). The staff was warm and friendly, and ready to offer suggestions if needed.
Located right next to City Lights, this bar was a regular hangout for Jack Kerouac. If I lived in San Francisco, this place would likely become a favorite of mine. Although the wine was terrible (I don’t think I’ve ever left a glass of wine behind anywhere), there is so much crap (and I use the term with great affection) covering the walls that it would take numerous visits to look at everything. There is also a stunning gas chandelier over the bar, unlike any I have seen before.
This list is short, and I’m sure there are many more great places in San Fran! I would love to hear from you about any more that you know of for my next trip back! Please comment below so that I don’t miss out!
