Top Ten Tuesday – My Summer TBR
June 16, 2015
Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish in which they select a topic every week, and the rest of us get to make Top Ten lists based on that topic. This week’s topic: Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR list. As I was getting ready to type this post, I decided to go back and look at my TTT post on my spring TBR list (you may remember that I commented on how I had not read anything from my winter TBR, which was a tad embarrassing). I decided to really think about my spring list, and I actually read 7 of the books on that list. Summer is looking like it will be a time to catch up on all of the books leering at me that I thought I would have read by now! I’ll let you know in the fall how I did on this list!
Books I’ve Won That I Have Yet To Read:
Independently Wealthy by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal – I won this several months ago, and I feel some guilt when I look over at it and realize I have yet to read and review this one.
Everly After by Rebecca Paula – I’m not sure this is my kind of book, but I want to give it a chance. As time has gone on, I’ve become far more selective about the giveaways I sign up for!
True Colors by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Ummmmm…I have a hard time believing this one is up my alley. It is set in Grand Rapids, and I’d love to read a book set in this city. I will give this one a try as well, but I have serious doubts about it!
The Cruel Country by Judith Ortiz Cofer – I won this one recently, and this one seems like it is more up my alley. It is getting good reviews, and I love the idea of reading a book set in Puerto Rico.
Books Signed at Author Events
At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen – I love Gruen’s books, and I am totally excited to read this one. I’m not sure why I haven’t gotten to it yet!
China Dolls by Lisa See – I highly enjoyed seeing Lisa See speak in Atlanta, and I have been excited to get to this one as well! I haven’t read anything yet by See, but I have high hopes that I’ll enjoy her writing!
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe – I sat next to Howe at last year’s Anderson’s YA Literature Fest, and she was awesome to chat with. I love the premise of this book, and I still really want to read it!
Books on Hold at the Library:
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara – I have read several reviews of this one, and it is supposed to be an intense, unforgettable, but very long and emotionally difficult read. I have purposely waited until the summer so I have plenty of time to read it!
In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume – Blume was my favorite author during my adolescent years, and it has been forever since I’ve read anything by her.
Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee – Who doesn’t want to read this one? I’m hoping to somehow fit in a reread of To Kill a Mockingbird before I get my hands on this one!
Reading Prep for Anderson’s YA Literature Conference
I want to be more prepared when I attend this conference this fall. I ended up spending soooooo much money last year as I fell in love with some of the authors without knowing much about their writing. I’d like to be a little more focused this year in what I buy, so I want to read some of the authors works ahead of time.
All Fall Down by Ally Carter – This is Carter’s new release, and I’ve heard good things. I like the premise of the book, and I’ll let you know if it lives up to the hype.
Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan – This book looks so sweet and delightful, and I am looking forward to reading this one!
Okay, so that’s more than ten. It is highly unlikely that I’ll get to all of these, but I’m sure going to give it a shot!
What’s on your summer TBR?
